Does this statement give you food for thought…or does it matter?

“We shouldn’t be surprised that consumers have no real understanding of food because they have no sense of connectedness with the land or farmers or factory farming — “controlled contract production” who bring them their food. Our food system has moved beyond independent family farms, food processors and wholesalers to giant, publicly held, profit margin, food processing and distribution firms now as giant conglomerates into five or six even larger “global food chain clusters. We now have regional and national chains of large supermarkets and even larger retail “Super Centers,” franchised restaurants and fast food joints … As the four or five dominant global food retailers link up with existing “global food chain clusters,” they well eventually control all phases of the global food system from the ‘dirt to the dinner plate’ including agricultural production.”Quoted from the article: The New American Food System by the Price Pottenger Nutrition Foundation (PPNF Newsletter)
