…alytical with texts that we teach, why aren’t we recognising that this is a generation of tweeters? A generation of minds all used to conveying a message in as few characters as possible. They already have the skills they need, we just aren’t engaging them with the right content.
I'm a retired teacher who taught the basics of a traditional curriculum to read, write and arithmetic, the stepping stones to higher learning. There was less distraction before the age of cell phones and social media where performing could replace intelligent reasoning. I agree that creativity means more than before and teachers like yourself are important to possibly change teaching objectives. Great article and wish you much success.
